Obituary of J. Knittle
J. Edward Knittle, 90, of Saugerties, NY, passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine. He was born on April 4, 1927 to the late Joseph Knittle and Josephine Knittle Westner.
Ed served in the US Navy during World War II on the USS Spokane. He later worked for IBM for 38 years in New York and North Carolina. Ed was an avid cyclist, often riding his bicycle to work as well as completing 100 mile rides. He enjoyed reading, tinkering with tools and history.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan (Kreshock) Knittle, his children, Ronald Knittle, Barry Knittle and his wife Evelyn, Carl Knittle, his step children, Charlene Schatzel and her husband John, and Charles Bouton, Jr. and his partner Amie Goodrich, as well as his granddaughter, Olivia Knittle, and his step granddaughters, Alyssa and Julie Schatzel.
Entrusted to the care of A. Carr & Son Funeral Home, 65 Lucas Ave, Kingston, where friends and family may visit on Monday April 24 from 2pm to 4pm with a Celebration of Life taking place at 4pm.
